Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Morristown walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Waldron Mohawks on Monday as they made off with a 15-4 victory. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sawyer Rogers made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. Rogers was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Nevaeh Cox was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Avery Everhart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
The win got Morristown back to even at 10-10. As for Waldron, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.
Coming up, Morristown will square off against South Decatur at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Waldron does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
