Soccer Recap: Elkhorn Takes a Loss

Elkhorn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Bennington Badgers who were credited with the win. The Bennington Badgers got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Elkhorn Antlers' one. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Elkhorn of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Brooke Gritten and Becca Leise scored both of Elkhorn's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Elkhorn's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bennington, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Elkhorn will face off against rival Norris at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bennington is set to take on their familiar foe Scotus at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
