Basketball Recap: King Jones Key Part of Team Effort in Warriors Win

There's no place like home for KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 73-70 victory over the Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears on Tuesday. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 57-39 win the Golden Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was King Jones, who went 10-for-17 to rack up 22 points and five rebounds. Jones' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Laqwaun Morgan was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Holy Innocents Episcopal, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. KIPP Atlanta Collegiate will square off against Therrell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holy Innocents Episcopal, they will face off against Hapeville Charter on Friday. The Golden Bears will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
