Preview: Hoover Vikings vs. Jackson Polar Bears
Hoover has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Jackson Polar Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Hoover pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 41-34 to Green. Hoover gained 177 more yards on the day, but it was Green that made the best of use of them.
Hoover's defeat came about despite a quality game from Mason Ashby, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 53 receiving yards. Ashby was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Another player making a difference was Kyler Miraglia, who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Jackson's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They didn't even let Canton Central Catholic onto the board and left with a 20-0 win. The result was nothing new for Jackson, who have now won three matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Hoover's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Green, Lake, and GlenOak. As for Jackson, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Hoover beat Jackson 14-7 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Hoover repeat their success, or does Jackson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
