Baseball Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mater Dei Catholic won against Monte Vista on Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Crusaders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Hilltop Lancers. The victory was nothing new for the Crusaders as they're now sitting on three straight.

Joey Castillo was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Jean Pierre Noury, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Mater Dei Catholic pushed their record up to 7-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hilltop, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Mater Dei Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hilltop: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
