IMG Academy extends streak to 38 with win over defending Pennsylvania state champion

No. 6 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) extended its winning streak to 38 games Friday night with a 42-0 win over defending Pennsylvania state champion Pine-Richland (Gibsonia, Pa.).

The Ascenders, who haven't lost since 2014, left no doubt in their season opening victory.

IMG Academy took a 21-0 lead late in the first quarter on the second rushing touchdown of the night by Noah Cain. The Florida powerhouse never looked back, handing Pine-Richland its first shutout loss since Oct. 18, 2013.

The Ascenders didn’t allow a first down until the 7:06 mark of the second quarter and held the potent Rams attack to just 75 yards of total offense.

Cain led the way offensively for IMG with eight carries for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback David Baldwin connected on 6 of 8 pass attempts for 64 yards, adding and 81 more yards and a score on the ground.



IMG Academy returns home to the Sunshine State to host Norland (Miami) next Friday, Aug. 31, before a difficult road trip that includes showdowns with Liberty (Henderson, Nev.), No. 5 St. John's (Washington, D.C.) and No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.).
