Basketball Recap: Century Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Century took on Newberg on Tuesday. The Jaguars were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Tigers. The Jaguars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 51-42.

Century's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9. As for Newberg, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Century will challenge Liberty at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Newberg, they will host Sherwood at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Bowmen have now posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.
