Basketball Recap: Henderson County Continues Road Dominance on Monday

Henderson County came tearing into Monday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the McLean County Cougars, posting a 55-26 win. Given the Colonels' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Cougars are ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Henderson County to victory were Brooklyn Gibson and A'Tylia Green. Gibson went 7 for 11 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds, while Green went 5 of 9 to rack up 13 points and five steals. Green is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Allyson Rideout, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Henderson County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Henderson County pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for McLean County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

Coming up, Henderson County will head out on the road to challenge Crittenden County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Henderson County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games. As for McLean County, they will host Butler County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. McLean County is facing Butler County at the right time seeing as Butler County is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
