Basketball Recap: Heide Trask Beats Pender for Their Eighth Straight Win

Heide Trask came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 59-46 victory over the Pender Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 60-54 last Wednesday.

Leading Heide Trask to victory were Trey Paffenroth and Gio Driggers. Paffenroth went 6-for-12 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and six assists, while Driggers dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Driggers is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthias Sonne, who posted 11 points.

Pender lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ryan Howell, who put up 12 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Jordan Hansley was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Heide Trask pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Pender, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Heide Trask does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pender, they will face off against East Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pender is facing East Columbus at the right time seeing as East Columbus is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
