Softball Game Preview: Lee Generals vs. John Battle Trojans

Lee has won six straight games at home, while John Battle has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Generals will host the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

John Battle's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Lee hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Generals' pitcher stepped up to hand Union a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Generals have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Avery Weston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Garrett, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Chloe Bledoe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday John Battle sidestepped Central Wise for an 11-9 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted against the Warriors since April 14, 2023.

Lee is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for John Battle, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
