Soccer Game Preview: LaSalle-Peru vs. Kaneland

LaSalle-Peru hasn't had much luck against Kaneland recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cavaliers will welcome the Knights at 4:00 p.m. LaSalle-Peru has given up an average of 5.4 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

LaSalle-Peru is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Morris, falling 7-2. Things were pretty much settled by the half as LaSalle-Peru were already down 4-1.

Meanwhile, Kaneland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They never let the Pirates get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Kaneland might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by five goals or more this season.

Kaneland's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those five games. As for LaSalle-Peru, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

LaSalle-Peru suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Kaneland when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
