Baseball Recap: Aptos Mariners vs. San Lorenzo Valley Cougars

While Aptos's victory against San Lorenzo Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mariners had just enough and edged out the Cougars 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-1 back in March.

Alec Mendoza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dom Castillo was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nate Garcia also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Aptos hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Lorenzo Valley struck out nine times.

Aptos' win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for San Lorenzo Valley, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-14.
