Soccer Game Preview: Montclair vs. Chaffey

The Montclair Cavaliers will square off against the Chaffey Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Montclair's tournament run continued when they took on Birmingham on Monday. Montclair fell just short of Birmingham by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Patriots are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Chaffey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. 2025 welcomed they with a 3-0 loss courtesy of Chino Hills. The game was a close 1-0 at the break, but unfortunately for the Tigers it sure didn't stay that way.

Montclair now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Chaffey, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8-2.

Montclair skirted past Chaffey 1-0 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Does Montclair have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chaffey turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
