Volleyball Recap: Sports Leadership & Management Spartans vs. King's Academy Lions
Sports Leadership & Management and King's Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Sports Leadership & Management had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Lions. The game marked the first time this season in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.
Elvio Begic paced Sports Leadership & Management's offense, picking up 12 kills. Begic got some help from Caleb McConnell and his 17 assists. Begic also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Nicholas Karr, racking up two apiece.
King's Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Huff led the charge by getting ten kills, nine digs, and two aces. That's the most digs Huff has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Graysen Amestoy, who had ten kills and five digs.
Having lost for the first time this season, Sports Leadership & Management fell to 25-1. As for King's Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.
