Volleyball Recap: Mount Vernon Comes Up Short

If Mount Vernon was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Elite Scholars Academy on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbus Blue Devils on Saturday. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blue Devils from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Jaslyn Watts, who had 14 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Mount Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Columbus, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Mount Vernon and Columbus will both be playing St. Pius X Catholic the next time they take the court. The Blue Devils will head out to face the Golden Lions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Mustangs will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
