Fort Knox extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They took a 22-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of the John Hardin Bulldogs. On the bright side, the 17- run effort marked the Eagles' highest-scoring game to date.
Hannah Steele led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two triples. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nala Stevens, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
As for John Hardin, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. Surprisingly, this marked their fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
On John Hardin's side, Addyson Chaney made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Chaney was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Hailey Wiley was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kenley Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
When Fort Knox and John Hardin next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Eagles will square off against Heritage Christian Academy and their three-game winning streak at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, John Hardin will try to stop North Hardin's four-game winning streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
