Volleyball Game Preview: Lutheran South Academy Pioneers vs. St. Michael's Warriors

The Lutheran South Academy Pioneers will take on the St. Michael's Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Lutheran South Academy sitting on 13 straight victories and St. Michael's on three.

Last Wednesday, Lutheran South Academy made easy work of Bay Area Christian and carried off a 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Lutheran South Academy was: they took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-13, 25-10.

Lutheran South Academy found their leader in sophomore Charlie Marsico, who had 14 digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Marsico.

Meanwhile, St. Michael's got the win against Cuero on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.

St. Michael's got stronger as the match went on, holding Cuero to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-11.

Lutheran South Academy's victory bumped their record up to 28-6. As for St. Michael's, their win bumped their record up to 33-12-1.

Lutheran South Academy beat St. Michael's 2-0 when the teams last played back in September. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
