Preview: Bureau Valley Storm vs. Rock Falls Rockets
The Bureau Valley Storm will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Rock Falls Rockets at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Illinois (Bureau Valley is ranked 400th, while Rock Falls is ranked 381st).
Bureau Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Princeton by a score of 54-52.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Taylor Neuhalfen, who scored 16 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Salisbury, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Rock Falls fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They really took it to North Boone for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-22 win at home. With Rock Falls ahead 39-10 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Elizabeth Lombardo and Claire Bickett were among the main playmakers for Rock Falls as the former scored 12 points along with four steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Nicolette Udell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Bureau Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-15 record this season. As for Rock Falls, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-21 record this season.
