Preview: Whitehorse Raiders vs. Monument Valley Cougars

Whitehorse is 0-10 against Monument Valley since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Whitehorse Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Monument Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Whitehorse sitting on six straight wins and Monument Valley on 12.

Whitehorse stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They breezed by Northwest on the road to the tune of 70-19. Whitehorse pushed the score to 56-19 by the end of the third, a deficit Northwest had no chance of recovering from.

Whitehorse found their leader in underclassman Harmony Thomas, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Etsitty, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Monument Valley stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Red Mesa as Monument Valley made off with a 61-41 victory. Given Monument Valley's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 28th in Utah, while Red Mesa is ranked 190th in Arizona), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nevaeh Wilson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points. Another player making a difference was Shimequa Hudson, who scored ten points.

Whitehorse has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Monument Valley, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1.

Whitehorse suffered a grim 53-30 defeat to Monument Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Whitehorse avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
