Baseball Game Preview: Chaminade Red Devils vs. St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots

The Chaminade Red Devils will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chaminade has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while St. Louis HomeSchool P will arrive with four straight victories.

Chaminade managed to slip by Lafayette the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Chaminade came up short against Lafayette on Wednesday, falling 17-7. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly ten runs.

Bobby Wittman and Henry Ladenberger stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wittman scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Ladenberger went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Louis HomeSchool P). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-15 win over Winfield on Friday. With that victory, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Rhyan Gard looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Ben Janssen was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vinny Tornatore, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

St. Louis HomeSchool P always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Louis HomeSchool P's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Chaminade, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
