Recap: Butler Golden Tornado vs. McDowell Trojans
The Butler Golden Tornado were the 62-7 winner over the McDowell Trojans when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Butler took a serious blow against McDowell on Friday, falling 52-12. While losing is never fun, Butler can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 269th, while McDowell is ranked 28th).
Despite the defeat, Butler saw an underclassman step up: Mark Klemz rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Leading McDowell to victory were Dominic Berarducci and Blayze Myers. Berarducci rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, while Myers threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Stephon Porter was in the mix as well, providing McDowell with two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Butler and nudges their season record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.5 points per game. As for McDowell, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Butler does not have any more games scheduled as of now. McDowell is also done with their season.
