The Liberty Ranch Hawks will face off against the Edison Vikings at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Liberty Ranch has four straight victories, Edison has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Liberty Ranch got the win against Bradshaw Christian by a conclusive 11-1.
Laura Quinn looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Bella Granata was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khali Barrantes, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Liberty Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Edison might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Bear Creek who claimed the real prize. The Vikings took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins.
Leila Tatupu made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Liberty Ranch pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Liberty Ranch took their win against Edison in their previous matchup back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 25-3 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
