Basketball Recap: Wheeler County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Dooly County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wheeler County). They took down the Dooly County Bobcats 80-61 on Saturday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Wheeler County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Wright Jr. out in front who posted 19 points and eight boards. Wright Jr. is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Quenshawn Glasper was another key player, putting up 14 points and seven rebounds.

Wheeler County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 35 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Dooly County lost, don't look at Sean Sallette. Despite the final result, he went 11-for-22 to rack up 27 points. Another player making a difference was Jamonte Taylor, who scored 18 points along with five boards and three steals.

Wheeler County's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Dooly County, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.

Coincidentally, Wheeler County and Dooly County will both be playing Montgomery County the next time they take the court. Dooly County will host Montgomery County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Wheeler County will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
