Basketball Recap: Parkview Baptist's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After flying high against Catholic of Pointe Coupee on Thursday, Parkview Baptist came back down to earth. The Parkview Baptist Eagles took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Denham Springs Yellowjackets on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (56), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Denham Springs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jermaine OConner, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points along with five boards and four steals. OConner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was DaJean Golmond, who posted 14 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds.

With the defeat, Parkview Baptist broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-6. As for Denham Springs, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-1.

Parkview Baptist will head out on the road to take on Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Denham Springs, they will face off against Live Oak at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
