Basketball Recap: Nogales Extends Winning Streak to Four

Nogales extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Cecilia Burruel. The Nogales Apaches claimed a resounding 57-20 win over the Cienega Bobcats thanks in part to Burruel, who posted 14 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Johanna Simpson was another key player, going 6 of 7 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 11 times she's played.

Nogales has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points per game. As for Cienega, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

Nogales wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-28 victory against Buena on the 23rd. As for Cienega, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-17 win against Desert View on the 23rd.
