Football Recap: Smyer Bobcats vs. Ropes Eagles

Smyer extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-6. They were beaten by the Ropes Eagles 66-0. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1176th, while the Eagles are ranked 584th).

Skyler Pond threw for 29 yards on ten of 16 attempts. Ryann Gutierrez was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards.

As for Ropes, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Ropes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zayden Pittman, who rushed for 52 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 68 yards and a pair of TDs on only six passes. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Pittman a new career-high. Jaivyth Cruz was another key back, rushing for 97 yards and two scores on only six carries.
