The Covington Academy Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Scholars Guild Academy Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Covington Academy came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Skipstone Academy, falling 15-3. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.
Peyton Ledoux was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Scholars Guild Academy made easy work of Creekside Christian Academy on Thursday and carried off a 10-1 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Noelle Boeckman and Madison Kenny made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Boeckman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Kenny didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. At the plate, Boeckman scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Kenny scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Sidney Minor was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kerrigan Welch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Scholars Guild Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Creekside Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .208.
Covington Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Scholars Guild Academy, their record now sits at 2-0.
Covington Academy might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Scholars Guild Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Covington Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
