Football Recap: Cookeville Falls Despite Big Games from Caden Sisco and Easton Davidson

Cookeville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 47-24 to the Gallatin Green Wave. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Green Wave apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Cookeville had strong showings from Easton Davidson, who threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns, and Caden Sisco, who picked up 84 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

As for Gallatin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 38.0 points this season.

Jackson Stroup had an outrageously good game as he threw for 281 yards and five TDs while completing 80.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 43 yards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (154). Justin 'JC' Cagle was Stroup's top target, picking up 100 receiving yards and three scores.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cookeville will challenge Wilson Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 13.2 points per game this season, so the Cavaliers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Gallatin, they will square off against Green Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Green Wave will be up against the Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.75 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
