Basketball Game Preview: Greater Vision Academy Lions vs. Shining Light Academy Knights

The Greater Vision Academy Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Shining Light Academy Knights at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Greater Vision Academy has given up an average of 51 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Greater Vision Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Alamance Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to the Warriors on the road by a 61-43 margin. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Greater Vision Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayce King went 5-for-10 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Bradun Rogers, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Shining Light Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past Community Baptist 65-20 on Thursday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-7.

Greater Vision Academy better keep an eye on Zach Evaro. He was instrumental in Shining Light Academy's win, as he made all 6 shots he took racking up 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Harry Uwaifo, who had 11 points.

The victory got Shining Light Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Greater Vision Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Greater Vision Academy couldn't quite finish off Shining Light Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 85-82. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
