Football Recap: Norte Vista Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Ramona

Norte Vista never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-0 win over the Ramona Rams. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Braves' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 551st, while the Rams are ranked 251st).

Norte Vista's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB eight times. In that department, Sela Suliafu was the leader with seven sacks. Norte Vista is 3-1 when Suliafu posts one or more sacks, but 3-6 otherwise.

The win made it two in a row for Norte Vista and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 points in those games. As for Ramona, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Norte Vista is set to square off against their familiar foe Loma Linda Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Braves 7.9, the Roadrunners 11.9) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Ramona will face off against rival Centennial at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
