The Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Carbondale Terriers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Anna-Jonesboro is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season.

Anna-Jonesboro lost 7-4 to Sikeston on Monday. Juan Del Aguila was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Landon Boyd and Ethan Plott scored all four of Anna-Jonesboro's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 25 goals.

Meanwhile, Carbondale came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.2 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. Given Carbondale's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Marion are ranked 341st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carbondale's victory bumped their record up to 14-1-1. As for Anna-Jonesboro, their defeat ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.

Anna-Jonesboro beat Carbondale by a goal in their previous meeting back in October of 2015, winning 5-4. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Terriers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
