Softball Recap: Aquinas Takes a Loss

Aquinas extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-12. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the La Crosse Logan Rangers. The Blugolds were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rangers earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Addy Watson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Kretschmer, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

As for La Crosse Logan, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 25th.

On La Crosse Logan's side, Kaia DePaolo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maria Weber, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kenna Streeck, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Aquinas will challenge Viroqua at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blackhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.95 runs per game on average), something the Blugolds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for La Crosse Logan, they will take on Altoona at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
