Football Recap: Apex Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Apex's offense. They were outmatched by the Green Hope Falcons and fell 27-0. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Falcons are ranked 130th).

Nicholas Goulet had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 252 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes for Green Hope.

This is the second loss in a row for Apex and nudges their season record down to 1-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-0 Jordan (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 91.7% over those games). As for Green Hope, their record now sits at 5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Apex is set to challenge their familiar foe Apex Friendship at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Green Hope will take on rival Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Green Hope 10.5, Jordan 6.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
