Football Recap: Crisp County Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road + How To Watch

Crisp County was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Pierce County Bears by a score of 28-16. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 34-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Crisp County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derrell Brown, who rushed for 30 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 49 receiving yards and one touchdown. Brown has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-6 otherwise. Deshaun Fedd was another key pass catcher, picking up 200 receiving yards and one score.

Crisp County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Joshua Lawson was especially locked on to Pierce County's QB and sacked him twice. Lawson also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six. Crisp County got some further help from Jordan Fox: he picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Crisp County's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Pierce County, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Crisp County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cook at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st. As for Pierce County, they will venture away from home to face off against Tattnall County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
