Softball Game Preview: Irvin Rockets vs. Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy Warriors

Irvin is 0-5 against Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy since March of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Irvin Rockets will take on the Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Irvin has given up an average of 16.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Irvin is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 24-2 to Bowie.

Irvin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kimberly De La Torre, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. That hit was De La Torre's first of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Riverside, falling 16-1. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Rangers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Irvin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Irvin suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Irvin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
