Basketball Game Preview: Thornton Wildcats vs. Westinghouse Warriors

The Thornton Wildcats and the Westinghouse Warriors will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Thornton's tournament run continued when they took on Kenwood on Thursday. Thornton was beaten by Kenwood 64-32. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Broncos are ranked second).

Despite the defeat, Thornton had strong showings from Jeremy Blanco-Rios, who posted ten points and seven boards, and Kobe Stevenson, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, Westinghouse was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-51 heartbreaker at the hands of Evergreen Park. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since January 10th.

This is the second loss in a row for Thornton and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Westinghouse, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
