Basketball Game Preview: Marshall Redhawks vs. Pennfield Panthers

The Marshall Redhawks will square off against the Pennfield Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Marshall is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Three Rivers 65-38 on Tuesday. Given the Redhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Wildcats are ranked 463rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pennfield had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 53-42 victory over the Mounties.

Pennfield is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Marshall, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6.

Marshall strolled past Pennfield in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 48-31. Will Marshall repeat their success, or does Pennfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
