Softball Recap: Chuckey-Doak Comes Up Short

Chuckey-Doak extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-12. They lost 17-0 to the Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones. The shutout was out of character for the Black Knights seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

As for Elizabethton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

For Elizabethton's part, ADRIAN HEADING was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave HEADING a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of SADIE WILLIAMS, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Chuckey-Doak will challenge West Greene at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buffaloes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.45 runs per game on average), something the Black Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Elizabethton, they will square off against Happy Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.89 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Cyclones will no doubt try to take advantage of.
