Softball Game Preview: Carlisle Indians vs. Overton Mustangs

Carlisle is 1-9 against Overton since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Carlisle Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Overton Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Carlisle has given up an average of 16.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Carlisle is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against Overton, falling 17-0.

For Overton's part, Kelsey Vaught made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Vaught was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bryleigh Nelson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Five bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Anna Perkins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4.

Overton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Carlisle's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Overton, their record now sits at 7-8-1.
