Basketball Recap: St. Johns' Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Johns walked away with it. They had just enough and edged the Scottsdale Christian Academy Eagles out 67-64. The victory was familiar territory for the Redskins, who have now won five contests in a row.

Scottsdale Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miles Parker, who went 7-for-10 on his way to 17 points. The dominant performance gave Parker a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cash Gorder, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 13 points and seven boards.

St. Johns' win bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Scottsdale Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-11.

Looking ahead, St. Johns will head out to square off against North Valley Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Johns knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully North Valley Christian Academy likes a good challenge. Scottsdale Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
