Baseball Game Preview: Pine-Richland Rams vs. New Castle Hurricanes

For the second straight game, Pine-Richland will face off against New Castle. The Rams will challenge the Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pine-Richland has four straight wins, New Castle has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Pine-Richland got a great performance from Keegan Deihl as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Deihl has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tanner Cunningham, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Logan Plummer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

Pine-Richland pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for New Castle, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
