Basketball Recap: Selma Takes Down Holtville in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Selma had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 47-16 victory over the Holtville Bulldogs. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Rod'Neisha Parker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jykierra Oliver, who posted eight points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Selma smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Selma's win bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Holtville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 22-7.

Coming up, Selma will challenge Briarwood Christian at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Selma's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Briarwood Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. Holtville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
