Basketball Game Preview: Airport Eagles vs. Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles

The Airport Eagles will face off against the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Airport has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Gray Collegiate Academy will arrive with seven straight victories.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-42, which was the final score in Airport's tilt against Midland Valley on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Mustangs are ranked 78th).

Brookland-Cayce typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Gray Collegiate Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 74-63.

Gray Collegiate Academy's win came from a few key players Airport will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Levi Ball, who went 10 of 14 en route to 28 points and seven rebounds. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Quan Mcduffie, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Gray Collegiate Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points per game. As for Airport, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.

Airport was dealt a bruising 97-31 loss at the hands of Gray Collegiate Academy when the teams last played back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Airport was down 53-16.
