Softball Recap: Polk County Wolverines vs. Chase Trojans
Polk County extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 10-10 in the process. They fell 9-4 to the Chase Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 on Tuesday.
Polk County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Bradley, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Chase, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.
On Chase's side, Myra Beaver made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Beaver was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, A'Mya Phillips was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikeala Shahan, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Polk County has already played their next match, a 12-0 defeat against East Rutherford on the 29th. As for Chase, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-0 win against East Henderson on the 28th.
