Basketball Recap: Tri County Northeast Comes Up Short

Tri County Northeast played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Pender Pendragons 72-40. The Wolfpack have struggled against the Pendragons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Tri County Northeast's loss came despite strong showings from Joslyn Mackling and Briley Anderson. Mackling posted 18 points and five rebounds, while Anderson scored 11 points and eight boards. Mackling's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Ally Belt also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Even though they lost, Tri County Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for Madalyn Dolliver, who went 10 for 23 en route to 29 points and seven steals for Pender. That's the most steals Dolliver has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Dolliver, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 15 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Tri County Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Pender, their record is now 18-2.

Tri County Northeast will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Omaha Nation at 4:00 p.m. on February 15th. Pender will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Guardian Angels Central Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on February 11th. Pender is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season.
