Baseball Recap: Samuell Spartans vs. Adams Cougars
Samuell had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it 12. They came up short against the Adams Cougars, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-0 on Tuesday.
As for Adams, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7. Considering they have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Adams' part, the team relied heavily on Xavier Gomez, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Gomez a new career-high. Jay Ortiz was another key player, earning three runs and two stolen bases.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Samuell will venture away from home to square off against West Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Wranglers at the right time seeing as the Wranglers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Adams, they are taking a road trip to face off against Poteet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
