Football Recap: Pacifica Piles Up the Points Against Buena Park

Pacifica extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 5-3. They took their game with ease, bagging a 49-13 victory over the Buena Park Coyotes. Considering the Mariners have won three matchups by more than 35 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Pacifica's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ma'Kai Brown led the charge by rushing for 166 yards and one score on only ten carries. Those 166 rushing yards gave Brown a new career-high. Pacifica also got help from Eli Sandoval, who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pacifica was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pacifica's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Kole Chapman, Joseph Herrera, and Michael McGuigan, who each picked up one sack apiece.

As for Buena Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since November 1, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Buena Park lost, don't look at Damian Rodriguez. Despite the final result, he picked up 66 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
