Football Recap: Batesville Wins Going Away Against Rushville

Batesville extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-1. They walked away with a 39-28 win over the Rushville Lions. The match marked the Bulldogs' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Zadiin Small had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 197 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 104.8 rushing yards per game. Dylan Shane also deserves a shout-out for his three scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Batesville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

As for Rushville, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4. On the bright side, the 28- point effort marked their highest-scoring game to date.

When it comes to explaining why Rushville lost, don't look at Owen Zachery. Despite the final result, he rushed for 109 yards and three TDs on only ten carries, and also threw for 201 yards and one touchdown on only 14 passes. The Lions' leading receiver Kai Pernell was Zachery's top target yet again, picking up 137 receiving yards and one score.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Batesville will face off against East Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Rushville, they will take on Connersville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
