Softball Recap: Chester Has No Trouble Against CORE Butte

Chester barely beat CORE Butte the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Volcanoes blew past the Lynx 12-2 on Wednesday. The Volcanoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jenna Schlueter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Chester got a massive performance out of Hailey Delong, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Delong a new career-high. Addisen Nashlund was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.

Chester kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Chester is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for CORE Butte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Chester wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-0 defeat against Burney on the 3rd. As for CORE Butte, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-6 victory against Redding Christian on the 8th.
