Baseball Recap: Covington Takes a Loss

Covington lost against Blum back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Owls took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. The Owls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jeremiah Cunningham was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

Cunningham wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ivan Mendez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Covington's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-2. As for Blum, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.

While Covington had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
